No more re-rendering ! If you’re fed up with constant changes and adjustments from the client and the deadline is upon you, check this one out.

In this entry I will introduce some cool technique that can save you a lot of time. I’m talking about alternative texturing. Let’s say that you’re working on some tv add. The animation is done but client doesn’t know what he wants so he is flooding you with changes. In most of cases whole animation is good but you need to change an image, logo or typography. Do we need to render the whole thing again ? The answer is : NO !
Just do your texturing in post.

This tutorial is divided in 2 parts. First check out my tutorial which deals with 3d aspects of this case. Second part will be available soon on maltaannon.com

You can download the project files by clicking on this big “download” button below. Included UV map is only 8-bit low resolution sample of Youveelizer hi quality map. If you want to start from beginning open Start.max. If you encounter any problems, you’re stuck or just want to have finished scene to take control of the world, there are End.max file included. Enjoy.

Hi people.

If you always wanted to make cool title entry for movie, or to animate any typographic logo in innovative way you have to check this one.

Today we will play with a text a little bit. Some of you really insist for some typography tutorial so here it is. This one is quite simple this time. But simple doesn’t mean obvious. In lesson we will use reactor, built-in extension of 3ds max that can handle dynamic simulations. It is very powerful tool that can speed your work up and give great results in terms of realism.

You can download the project files by clicking on this big “download” button below. If you want to start from beginning open Start.max or just open an empty scene and follow the tutorial. If you encounter any problems, you’re stuck or just want to have finished scene to use it in your own twisted experiments , there are End.max file included. Enjoy.

Hello guys.

Yes, yes I know… It has been a while since last tutorial. Quite a long time. I know that you’re waiting for more. Unfortunately it’s not so easy. That’s because recording is very hard for me. Screengrabing actions from 3ds max is a piece of cake but to record and do voiceovers that’s something completely different. That consumes a lot of time (because I have to record in Polish and then transcribe and record audio in English again). Besides commercial work in our studio is quite absorbing and I live from it so it is quite obvious that I’m focused on doing that instead of making free tutorials.

I’d like to thank you all for all that good feedback, comments and mails. Especially I thank those few donors. That’s awesome when you know that someone appreciate you work. For those few bad comments, I’m always happy to see some constructive criticism, but if you’re just a flamer… well… go somewhere else. I’m not forcing to watch my tutorials if you don’t like them.

Long story short : I’m not dead, still doing tutorials. And here’s a link to the new one.

One more thing : stop bugging maltaannon about finecg. If you want you can bug me via mail form or skype (grzegorz_jankowski).

Hello everyone!
Welcome to my brand new, beautiful, shiny and silky smooth video tutorials site. I would like to appologise those who’ve been waiting for the grand opening of this site, especially those who had watched Maltaanon’s video tutorials at RedGigant and Making It Looks Great 5. I know that it’s been a while, since I’ve decided to launch it. I wanted to have three tutorials to start with, but unfortunately it is very hard for me to do that. However they are already prepared, project files and ideas are there, so it won’t be much longer till I do.

First of all I don’t want to make tutorials that already are on the web (like modeling a face etc.). Second, I can record them only during the time when I’m at the office. Third… I’m lazy, so if you have solution to any of the problems above (have an idea for cool tutorial, want to encourage me to make another or else) please contact me. I really need your support and kind words to reasure me that you want those tutorials and that it’s worth my time and effort. Afterall… I’m doing it all for you.

For the time being you can watch my first tutorial called 3D Sport Animation. I hope you like it. Further tutorials (which are prepared to be recorded) will be available soon. Feel free to comment or mail me with any feedback. I’ll answer as soon as it is possible.

Always wanted to do amazing animation, without complex modeling and endless hours of keyframing? Tune in and watch how to do this using Motion Capture and few cool tricks.

You could recognize this look, from World Cup 2006 Germany tv graphics. When I saw it then, I though that it was very nice and easy to make type of animation. I will always try to deliver complete solution of certain project, so anyone that will watch my tutorial will be able to achieve the same result from scratch. In this particular case I will introduce Particle Flow (great particle tool from 3ds max) and Character Studio. If you like to use some other character animation system which can load Motion Capture files (like CAT which is great plugin too) , feel free to do that. It’s all very similar. I decided to use Character Studio instead of CAT because it is bundled with 3ds Max.

You can download the project files by clicking on this big “download” button below. You will find six files there. If you want to start from beginning open Player.max or import Player.3ds . Files .bip and .bvh are downloaded from mocapdata.com and contains Motion Capture movement that we are going to use. If you encounter any problems, you’re stuck or just want to have finished scene to use it in your evil masterplan, there are PlayerFin.max and PlayerFinVray.max. Enjoy.
